She Nearly Died in the Line of Duty, But Officer Shaouni Doesn’t Quit

Overcoming Life-Threatening and Life-Changing Injuries

Officer Shaouni recalls the moment she was shot during an attempted drug-related arrest: “I was shot multiple times. He shot my partner multiple times. I got to a point of cover, and he comes around, he shoots me in my left arm. My left arm gets shattered and is just hanging next to me. He then walks up close to me, points the gun at my head and pulls the trigger. He missed.”

Getting back on the saddle isn’t easy after extreme trauma, but Officer Shaouni doesn’t have “quit” in her vocabulary. Instead, she went through five surgeries and months of excruciating physical recovery. To ensure her nerves and policing skills are up to snuff, she trained at Decision Tactical. Officer Shaouni ran through revolutionary training environments that immersed herself in challenging, potentially triggering scenarios. Some required de-escalation and others required the use of force. All required poise, focus and nerves of steel.

This is her story: a story of superhuman strength, survival, overcoming and thriving in the face of extreme adversity.

Even Shaouni’s father, a veteran in law enforcement for over 30 years, was impressed: “It’s a 360 environment. [It] keeps you more engaged and more aware.”

For Shaouni, this training isn’t just about sharpening her skills—it’s about helping others, too. “I think it’s very important to have these scenarios and run through these types of things. I now get to talk to academy classes about it, talk about critical incidents. The day that you stop learning, you need to change what you’re doing.”

Trooper Steve Explores Decision Tactical’s Immersive Tactical Training

WKMG News 6’s Steve Montiero, better known as “Trooper Steve,” recently stopped by Decision Tactical for an in-depth conversation with co-founder and CEO Remo Eyal. Sitting inside the ClickOrlando patrol car, the two discussed what makes Decision Tactical a game-changer as North Orlando’s first tactical training indoor theme park. 

During the interview, Eyal emphasized the practical crisis training our simulated shooting experiences provide to law enforcement. “If officers don’t get proper training, there can be mistakes. We really focus on that side of it to make sure they get the best training they can in immersive scenarios. You have to make decisions under pressure, which is a lot more difficult than standing at a gun range and just shooting that one target that’s not moving.”

Another topic of discussion was Decision Tactical’s mission in bridging a gap between the public and the officers who serve them. Eyal mentioned, “‘Save Lives, Bridge Divides,’ that’s our whole mission…for civilians to understand how difficult it is to be an officer.”

Trooper Steve is recognized for his background as a decorated combat veteran and former Florida Highway Patrol Officer, and this military and law enforcement experience provided meaningful perspective. Having gone through Decision Tactical’s simulated scenarios himself, he admitted, “I went through it the first time, and I was sweating, because it had been a while since I had been on the road. I really felt like I was experiencing something for the first time.”

​​His reaction highlights what makes us stand out. We’re not just a training ground for law enforcement but an adrenaline-pumping attraction for civilians looking to test their skills in realistic, high-intensity scenarios.

How Decision Tactical Prepares Law Enforcement for Real-World Threats

Sanford Deputy Chief of Police Trekelle Perkins, alongside our leadership team, walked reporters through one of our most immersive training experiences: the Street Scenario. This dynamic exercise begins in an everyday setting—a diner counter—before escalating into a high-intensity response situation. Officers must quickly assess the unfolding threat as they receive intelligence about terrorists in the area. From there, participants move into a town set, where they must navigate realistic urban environments, engage threats, and prioritize civilian safety, all under the pressure of real-time decision-making.

During their visit, Spectrum’s reporters were introduced to the cutting-edge simulation technology that powers our scenarios. Officers utilize CO2-powered firearms that produce realistic recoil, ensuring they train with the same physical sensations they would experience in a real-world encounter. Our interactive characters, capable of responding to verbal commands, add another layer of complexity, forcing participants to think critically, communicate effectively, and act decisively.

By providing this level of realism in a controlled, safe environment, Decision Tactical ensures that law enforcement personnel are prepared to handle crises with precision and confidence. As threats continue to evolve, so must the strategies and skills used to confront them, making advanced training not just beneficial, but essential.

Celebrating the 2025 Presidential Inauguration at Decision Tactical

On Monday, January 20, 2025, President Donald J. Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States. This particular inauguration proved to be a historic moment, as it was the first time since 1893 that a former U.S. president returned to the White House for a non-consecutive second term.

With all this in mind, it was only fitting to host a celebration at Decision Tactical! When Central Florida’s 105.9 Sunny FM radio station reached out to us to reserve our customizable Event Space and Rec Room for an Inauguration Watch Party, we were thrilled to have an opportunity to support both our country and the local community. We opened the event to the public, making fantastic use of our full-service sports bar and armory lounge area. With over 40 TVs across the property and multiple large projectors, we were able to transform our facilities into the perfect spot to witness the ceremony!

On the morning of the inauguration, it was clear that this would be a historic event not only for the United States but for Decision Tactical too! Guests began lining up bright and early, and by the time our doors opened at 11 a.m., the line wrapped around the building. Over 500 people filed in to celebrate the occasion, watching intently as President Trump and Vice President Vance took the oath of office and delivered remarks. The atmosphere was vibrant, with cheers erupting as the ceremony unfolded on screen.

As the crowd enjoyed the event, our Bar & Grill staff worked tirelessly to serve up delicious food and drinks. From refreshing draft beers to signature entrees like smash burgers, grilled cheese, and whiskey sliders, guests enjoyed a fantastic dining experience at unbeatable prices—just $9.99 per combo!
